01

Troubleshooting & repairs

Dead outlets, tripping breakers, flickering lights and half-dark rooms, traced to the cause and fixed.

Most calls start with something that stopped working. A room goes dark, a breaker won’t stay on, lights dim when the furnace kicks in. We find the actual cause, explain it in plain words, and fix it properly instead of resetting it and hoping.

  • Outage and partial-power troubleshooting
  • Tripping breakers and blown fuses
  • Dead or warm outlets and switches
  • Flickering or dimming lights
  • Repairs after storms or water

02

Panels & service upgrades

Fuse boxes, full panels and old services replaced with the capacity a modern house needs.

A heat pump, an EV, a new kitchen or a shop out back can push an old service past what it was built for. We replace fuse boxes and worn-out panels, upgrade services, add subpanels and coordinate with Green Mountain Power on the disconnect and reconnect.

  • Fuse box and panel replacement
  • Service upgrades (for example, 100 to 200 amps)
  • Subpanels for additions, garages and shops
  • Meter base and mast repairs
  • Panel repairs for problems left by past work

Wiring, new & old

New circuits, remodels and additions, and careful updates to wiring that has been in the walls for a century.

Bennington County has a lot of old houses, and old houses have layers: knob-and-tube, ungrounded two-wire runs, and decades of add-ons. We wire new work to code and update old wiring with care for plaster, trim and the people living there.

  • Remodels, additions and finished basements
  • New dedicated circuits
  • Knob-and-tube and ungrounded wiring updates
  • Wiring upgrades for older homes

Lighting, outlets & fans

Fixtures, outlets and switches, plus bath exhaust, ceiling and attic fans installed right.

The everyday jobs matter. New fixtures and recessed lights, more outlets where you actually need them, GFCI protection in kitchens and baths, and fans that move air the way they should: bath exhaust fans vented out of the house, ceiling fans on rated boxes, attic fans that keep the heat out.

  • GFCI and AFCI protection

Generator hookups

Safe connections for portable generators, so the well pump and furnace run when the ridge loses power.

Up on the hills, an outage can mean no heat and no water. A properly installed inlet and interlock or transfer switch lets you run a portable generator into the circuits you choose, without the deadly risk of backfeeding the utility line. We help you pick the circuits that matter: well pump, boiler or furnace, fridge, a few lights.

Heating & boiler controls

Wiring for boiler controls, thermostats and heat pumps, the equipment that matters most in a Vermont winter.

Heat is not optional here. We wire boiler and heating controls, thermostats and the dedicated circuits heat pumps need, and track down the control faults that leave a house cold on a January night.

  • Dedicated circuits for heat pumps
  • Heat cable outlets with GFCI protection

Vacuum systems & low voltage

Central home vacuum systems and phone wiring, the specialty jobs many electricians skip.

Central vacuum systems and phone wiring both appear on our listings, and they are jobs a lot of shops won’t touch. We install and repair central vacuum power and inlets, and run or repair phone lines.

  • Phone wiring
  • Doorbells and low-voltage circuits

EV chargers & surge protection

Level 2 chargers on a properly sized circuit, and whole-home surge protection at the panel.

A Level 2 charger needs its own 240-volt circuit and a panel with room for it. We check your load, run the circuit and mount the charger. A surge protector at the panel guards the circuit boards in your furnace, boiler, appliances and electronics from the spikes that come with storms and utility switching.

  • Load checks before adding big equipment
  • Whole-home surge protection
  • Smoke and CO alarm circuits

Sparks, smoke, a hot panel or a burning smell? Turn off the breaker or the main if you can do it safely, then call. If there’s fire or smoke, get out and call 911. Stay clear of downed lines and call Green Mountain Power.

Never attempt panel, service, feeder or new-circuit work yourself. Those jobs belong to a licensed electrician.
